Hair care SOS: Saving that tangled weave
14 May 2018
What you’ll need:
• A detangling brush
• A conditioning spritz
• A gentle touch
The detangling process begins with a gentle brush through your hair – start in sections from the tips, working your way up to your roots. To make this process as painless as possible, invest in a high-quality, wide-tooth detangling brush that can effectively eliminate knots from the hair.
Go from dull and lifeless to glossy and chic by spritzing your hair with a moisturising conditioner. Working in sections, a product like Mizani’s Thermasmooth Shine Extend Anti-Humidity Spritz, containing coconut oil, will produce optimal results.
Once again, using a wide-tooth comb, gently brush the knots out starting with the tips and working your way up to the roots. This will allow for an even distribution of the moisture-rich spritz.
Drying your hair with a towel or using a hairdryer can cause more knotting and damage than it’s worth. We recommend leaving your hair to air-dry naturally.
Once you have allowed your hair enough time to air-dry, you’ll be free to restyle! Choose something simple and, whatever you do, don’t tease. This will result in more knots, snagging and breakage.
Remember, prevention is always better than cure and your weave needs plenty of tender loving care if it’s going to last. In other words, upkeep is important. From deep conditioning products, shampoos and leave-in treatments, to the way in which you dry your hair, your haircare routine needs to be carefully considered.
Your haircare routine should now include:
• Deep conditioning
• Leave-in treatments
• Night care
You’re a queen, so celebrate your crown. Only buy products that have a solid reputation and speak to your stylist about haircare options, that way you’ll know exactly what to do in order to maintain a luscious mane.
