Three blonde hair colours to match three skin tones
02 October 2018
Everyone should go blonde at least once in their lives. This popular hair colour brightens skin and there’s a perception that it makes one more carefree and free-spirited. Choosing the right blonde colour is about balancing undertones and surface skin tone to create a natural and flattering colour. Do blondes have more fun? Let’s find out!
Fair - Your cool undertones were made to perfectly match the lightest shades of blonde. Think ashy and platinum tones that look almost white. Colours like honey and champagne work too. Strawberry blonde and copper colours will also complement the red and pink undertones in your skin.
Dark - Contrast is key, the darker the skin, the lighter the blonde. Try silvery, white platinum if your skin is very dark and for a safer option, gold mixed with light browns or “bronde” highlights. If you’re going for brown mixed in, keep the blonde colour bright to prevent the darker colours from dulling your skin tone.
Medium - Your warm toned skin suits a blonde and light brown mix of colours best, like butterscotch and champagne. Tanned skin can also opt for an ombre with sandy and golden hues on the ends. For olive skin, it’s preferable to keep your roots darker to balance out your warm undertones and the colour of your skin.
Get it right the first time by consulting a salon colourist for an expert opinion. They will be able to create and mix customised blonde colours for your exact skin tone.
