This post is for all the ladies out there with Type 4 curls – in other words, loose spiral-shaped curls with loads of volume and bounce. Loose curls are seriously admired, but every woman who lives with them knows the haircare challenges that come bundled with the compliments.

A biggie is frizz. And unruliness. It’s a blue moon day when your curls behave exactly how you want without a lot of taming. Fortunately, Kérastase has developed a premium anti-frizz range to weigh the “good hair day” odds ever in your favour. Rocking out in its rose gold packaging, the Kérastase Discipline collection smooths and defines curls. It also leaves hair with lightweight, attractive mobility and irresistible shine.

The innovation behind Kérastase Discipline includes advanced Morpho-Keratine technology, which tames frizz and protects against humidity. Surface Perfector makes hair easier to detangle, while a High Precision Care Agent restores and contributes to the weightless effect.

If crunched, misbehaving, ever-frizztastic curls are getting you down this summer, here’s how to use Kérastase Discipline to restore some order.

Step 1: It starts with shampoo

The formulations of this range go far, so apply a R2-coin-size amount of rastase Discipline Bain Fluidealiste evenly to your hair and scalp. Resist the urge to vigorously rub with your fingertips. Instead, massage with your palms, before rinsing. This gentle shampoo is suitable even for sensitive hair, and a sulphate-free version is also available.

Step 2: Condition

The Kérastase Discipline collection includes two conditioners. Kérastase Discipline Cleansing Conditioner Curl Idéal provides optimal dual cleansing-and-conditioning action for curls (especially if you want to skip shampoo). To use, apply a few pumps to wet hair. First, massage the low-lather formula into the scalp, then add a little moisture and spread along the hair lengths. Leave for five minutes, emulsify and then rinse thoroughly.

For a more intense conditioning treatment, there’s also beauty-award-winning Kérastase Discipline Masque Curl Idéal, developed for high-volume curls. Apply post-cleansing to damp hair and leave for five minutes before rinsing and priming.

Step 3: Achieve your desired style

Choose between a Kérastase Discipline cream or mousse for post-cleansing curl shaping and suppleness. Hair stays soft, and never feels rigid.

On towel-dried hair, spread Kérastase Discipline Oléo-Curl in a downwards direction along strand lengths with your fingers. You can even use it for style touch-ups a day later. Meanwhile, there’s acclaimed Kérastase Discipline Mousse Curl Idéal. Apply to cleansed and treated damp hair with a gentle scrunching motion. Leave in and style.

Bonus blow-dry protection

If you plan on blow-drying your curls, first apply Kérastase Discipline Fluidissime Spray to damp, gently towel-dried hair. Only then pick up the hairdryer. This formulation provides heat and frizz protection up to 230 degrees Celsius for 72 hours.

If you need Kérastase Discipline in your life, look for the range at your nearest salon. Find your most convenient stockist now.
